Diána Verebélyi (VéDia), a visual artist, painter and sculptor, has been living and working in Szentendre since 2007. During his art studies, ceramics, painting, visual communication and sculpture all helped to shape his artistic vision. From the very start of his career, he has received numerous professional accolades; in 2009, he was awarded the Mihály Gubis Prize, and in 2012, he became one of the youngest painter members of the National Association of Hungarian Creative Artists. In 2016, he was commissioned to design the Petőfi Music Prize trophy. His body of work is marked by more than 40 solo and 250 group exhibitions in Hungary and abroad.

Every creative journey is built on encounters. VéDia’s artistic vision János Aknay, István Zámbó, László Lugossy, Mihály Gubis, Ferenc Puha and György Somogyi enriched them both. The Diaverzum the independent, personal fulfilment of this diverse creative journey.

One of the most fascinating conceptual strands in VéDia’s painting is his exploration of the relationship between space, time and the universe. A Space Paradox in an imaginary space-time portal appears, enabling leaps in space and time on a conceptual level. The geometric forms, drawn from the toolkit of Op Art, evoke a sense of movement and depth, as if the flat surface were opening up into another dimension. Diaverzum is thus not merely the visual world of VéDia, but also an imaginary universe in which space, time, people and thought can interconnect freely.

A recurring feature of his artistic practice is live painting and the creative process shared with the audience. On 26 April 2024, at the Drop of You Centre for the Arts in Budapest, she offered a glimpse into the creation of a work of art as part of a live painting performance. This approach is continued in his later works, which are linked to unique venues and events.

VéDia regularly steps outside the confines of her studio to create art in the natural world and at unique locations. The light and atmosphere of a given setting, together with a personally experienced moment, can thus become a direct part of the creative process. A recent example of this is the work that came into being live in 2026 in Csopak, near Lake Balaton Near the shore a painting entitled [title], in which the experience of the Lake Balaton landscape is transformed into an image through VéDia’s own visual language.
